The interesting parts of life.

People in your life always tell you to try new things and eventually you'll find that certain thing that motivates you or just makes you feel so much better. Well there are many things that can make you feel that way. I recently befriended a guy who works at an art gallery. About two or three weeks ago i went to check the place out. There had been an exhibition for the art of a artist named Lou Hicks. Her art is comtemporary art, simple but at the same time people can interpret it in different ways. Thats what makes art so beautiful, the different interpretations of people and the different meaning we can all get from it. Learning and having new experiences are always an amazing part of life.
I just wanted to share her art with you guys because i hope you guys enjoy it as much as i did. Another artist who's art is actually completely different from Lou Hick's art is an artist named Joanne Grune-Yanoff. Her art revolves around the human body, either a picture and it would be blurry or the molding of a body part. If you guys are interested you could visit this site Seraphin Gallery. Hope you guys enjoy it and get into it like i have.
Art can be something simple or something immensely complex or even both. Usually the simplest forms of art or designs are the most complex, they have the most meaning behind them. Of course this isn't always necessarily true but it's my opinion, someone else might believe that it's the complete opposite. Well thank you for your time, i hope you all have a great week off and hope you had fun on Valentine's day.

  1. Diana, I absolutely agree with everything you wrote. Art is something I feel can always somehow set you apart from the crowd. There is always a certain individuality in the way you interperate an art piece. Whether it may be a painting, a photograph, or whatever else you will always have a seperate thought of it, when compared to someone else. While reading your blog one artist stood out in my mind among many;Diane Arbus. She was an american photographer who took pictures of people considered unordinary, or weird in her time. For example, one of her more legendary works is of a thin boy holding a hand grenade in a park. You should really look into her work, I think you'd enjoy it.

  2. You did an excellent job choosing aspects of Humanities. I love that you feel passionately about certain artists, and want to share it with the class. The link is a great addition. You do not need to speak directly to the class as if this is a letter, although it is not incorrect. be a little more careful when proofreading.

  3. hey diana, i think your post is really good. Everything thing you wrote is true. Art is an amazing part of this world. Personally i am in love with all types of art. The reason i like art so much besides the reasons you metion in your post is that art can make you feel certain emotions and having the ability to do such a thing should be admired. Another reason art is so amazing is because not only can anyone make art its also easilly accesible to everyone; no matter where you go there is some form of art you will be exposed to, for example in my post i wrote about a man known as "poster boy" who creates collages from different posters found in the subway, his finished products can be very powerful and to see them one does not even have to step into a gallery but keep thier eyes open while ride on the subway.

I looked up lou hicks and found her website. Her work is indeed very incomplex but full of passion. Looking through her paintings i found one entitled Red Diptych #1 which i find Rather enjoying. The colors are beautiful. Thanks for introducing her to me.
